Joiseph, founded in 2015 by three friends, started with a tiny vineyard in the village of Jois and has grown to become the producer of some of the most bewitching and dazzling wines in Burgenland.
‘Mischkultur’, meaning “a mix of cultures”, represents the diverse group of people that help create the Joiseph as well as the biodiversity in the vineyards.
Soft, mineral with a captivating salinity, you can also expect some peach and citrus. This is a very easy drinking wine with lots life and freshness. Perfect for this hint of Spring we’re feeling in the air 🌿🍑
Organic, minimal intervention, tiny amount of added sulphur, unfined and unfiltered, 100% vegan and veggie-friendly.
Notes on production:
"The grapes for this wine come from three blocks of Gemischter Satz. Two are very old and located in the ‘Auflangen’ vineyard(hilly, sloped), not far from theold vineyard that produced his 2015 ‘Ruhe In Frieden’ wine. The third block is in the‘Oberersatz’ vineyard, a slightly flatter parcel with vines ranging from 20 to 50 years old. All the parcels are on limestone and clay but with varying amounts of top soil and stones in the upper layer.
The grapes were destemmed and were fermented in steel (all varieties co-fermented) with just under two days of skin contact. After pressing, 2/3 of the wine went into one old 2500L barrel whilst the rest went into steel tanks. All the wine aged for 12 months, saw some occasional battonage, and was bottled with a tiny sulphite addition. Unfined, unfiltered."
