We choose 3 orange wines from our latest ALIVE WINE import portfolio. The idea is to showcase different 3 styles and expression of orange/skin contact/amber wine. Always organic, unfined, unfiltered, vegan and low intervention.
Our current selection comes from Bikciki:
Bikicki’s vineyards are located in Banostor village in the ancient wine region of Fruška Gora, Serbia facing the Danube River on the edge of Fruška Gora national park. Đorđe works together with technologist Oszkár Maurer and winegrower Jelena Burmudžija to produce incredible wines of character and clarity that express the terroir from which his grapes come. Technologist Maurer ferments exclusively on natural yeasts and without additional intervention in the cellar. Bikicki’s philosophy in wines is balance and elegance - he believes in using natural principles to create wines that do not have bret or VA, preferring to produce clean wines which express fruitiness the terroir provides his grapes.
Bikicki Traminac 2018 - A light and breezy expression of Traminac (Traminer/Gewürztraminer)
Bikicki S/O 2018 - An orange Sauvignon Blanc, think flavours of sherbet and citrus with a slightly smokey and spicy finish.
Bikicki Unsecored 2018 - The more serious older sibling of Traminac 2018. Way more complex with more almondy aromatics and herbaceous flavours, which still maintaining a sense of freshness meaning the bottle won't last for long once opened! It's delicious and the folks at Decanter thought so too, awarding it a GOLD award and scoring higher than any Serbian wine.
